The Scarp can be followed very closely from Jarrahdale to Dwellingup.
The are numerous meticulously maintained water supply dams in this part of the Scarp that have picnic areas, gas barbecues, shelters, toilets and good access, and make ideal stops (lunch, etc, not overnight) :
Serpentine Dam – large recreation area with a playground and bistro.
North Dandalup Dam – the Main Route leads across the top of the wall.
Oakley Dam – perched right on the edge of the escarpment.
South Dandalup Dam – the largest of Perth’s water supply dams.
Waroona Dam – aquatic playground within easy reach of Perth.
Logue Brook Dam – popular weekend holiday destination.
Harvey Dam – restrictions apply to four wheel driving.
As with the Avon River, so too does the Murray River present a very real barrier to following the Darling Scarp. However, before the detour is made, visit Scarp Pool, an accessible point on the Murray River as it falls over the Scarp. For a greater challenge, tackle the Dwellingup Fencelines Option.
Dwellingup is an excellent resupply point with numerous points of interest.
The route from Dwellingup to Waroona gives access to the Fawcett Track (closed during winter).
Should you choose to drive Murray River Fireline, commencing from Dwellingup and, for the purposes of Drive Darling Scarp finishing at Driver Road, consider then driving the Fawcett Track from Driver Road to Nanga Road and then onto Waroona Dam.
This stage of Drive Darling Scarp continues to Logue Brook Dam (Lake Navarino) and then onto the hills around Harvey Dam although these tracks may still be subject to closure because of hoon behaviour.
