This 36 kilometre Option can be easily completed in a 2WD vehicle. However, it is included because its environmental, cultural and historical features make it an excellent addition to family 4WD touring. At the right time of the year the scenery at Araluen is stunning, particularly the tulip display in spring. An overflowing Canning Dam, although not a regular event, is a sight to behold.
The route to Albany Highway is through jarrah forest in which are some magnificent stands of grasstrees.
Churchman Brook Reservoir in Roleystone is one of the metro area’s unknown gems. Great facilities and a definite country feel. Rejoin the Main Route at Brookton Highway.
