The northern boundary is based (broadly) on the Murchison River and is contiguous with the Gascoyne Region southern boundary.
The eastern boundary is along the Great Northern Highway from Doolgunna (north of Meekatharra), south through Mount Magnet to Paynes Find, continuing east of Lake Moore to the Emu Proof Fence at Karoun Hill Nature Reserve.
The southern boundary extends from Green Head on the coast to Karoun Hill Nature Reserve.
