South of Kirup the Main Route joins the Balingup-Nannup Road (one of the great drives of Western Australia) eight kilometres along the road from Balingup. To continue on this drivers’ delight past Lewana you must select the Nannup Loop Option.
Many tracks are affected by Disease Risk Area (DRA) closure in the Donnelly River forest, Glenoran forest, and Greater Beedelup National Park. Routing of the Road Trip close to the Darling Scarp in this area is a challenge.
The Karri Forest Explorer Drive winds through 86 kilometres of some of the state’s best karri forest. These magnificent trees are among the tallest in the world, growing to more than 80 metres.
Though Yeagarup and Callcup Hills (and their respective beaches) are a long way off the Scarp it is difficult to resist the allure of such quality four wheel driving territory, especially when you are at the closest service town. Be assured that the start is at the Darling Scarp!
